Justitsminister Peter Alberti indførte pryglestraf for volds- og seksualforbrydelser i 1905. Mænd mellem 15 og 55 år, som havde øvet voldtægt, vold mod sagesløse eller været uterlige mod små piger, skulle straffes med indtil 27 slag på ryggen med en stok. Pryglestraffen blev ophævet i 1911. Huskes bedst for Albertiskandalen i 1908.
